In the desktop version of Chrome, you’ll find that the browser has a brighter, flatter look, and certain elements such as the new tab button have been moved. For iOS users, the change is rather more dramatic, with controls moving to the bottom of the screen for easier navigation. There is also a new search button and a redesigned tab screen.
If you want to try out the new look, use the following steps:
Desktop Chrome:
- Launch Chrome and navigate to chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md
- Use the drop down menu for the UI Layout for the browser’s top chrome setting to select the Refresh option
- Relaunch Chrome when prompted
- You can change back by selecting the Defaultoption if you change your mind
Chrome for iOS:
- Launch Chrome and navigate to chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md
- Select the Enabled option for the UI Refresh Phase 1 setting
- Restart Chrome
